‘I was close to joining Man City’ Says Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that he was close to joining Manchester City but made the choice of going back to Manchester United as his heart was with them.

Cristiano Ronaldo told Piers Morgan in his interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored,

I was close to joining Manchester City in (summer) 2021. I was surprised to see they tried to sign me.”

Ronaldo clarified the reason on choosing to back to playing for Man United over Pep’s Man City saying,

” My heart, my history with Man United, (and) Sr Alex Ferguson made the difference. The heart was speaking loud in that moment.”

Ronaldo claims in his latest interview with Piers Morgan that his move to Man City from Juventus, back in the summer of 2021, was close to happening before he spoke with Sir Alex Ferguson, who ultimately played a key role in his final decision.

“Honestly, (transfer to Man City) was close. They spoke a lot and Guardiola said two weeks ago that they tried hard to have me.”

“Sir Alex Ferguson was the key (in final decision). He said to me that it is impossible for you to go to Manchester City. And I said ‘Ok, Boss’.”

The second part of the 90-minutes long interview of Cristiano Ronaldo with Piers Morgan will be aired tonight on TalkTV.
