‘Give him time’ Pep Guardiola urges Chelsea owner

Pep Guardiola has made an unusual request to the owners of Chelsea football club following Manchester City’s thrashing of Chelsea in the FA Cup.

Manchester City totally destroyed Graham Potter’s Chelsea, winning the game 4-0. Man City scored three goals in the first half alone, demonstrating their superiority over struggling Chelsea.

In the 23rd minute, Mahrez’s incredible free-kick goal gave City the lead before World Cup winning striker Julian Alvarez doubled City’s lead from the penalty spot in the 30th minute.

Foden ended Chelsea’s chances of a comeback by extending City’s lead to three goals just minutes before halftime. Mahrez completed his brace late in the second half, at the 85th minute of the game, as City went on to win 4-0.

In a post-match press conference, Pep Guardiola asked Chelsea’s owner to be patient with Graham Potter, saying that all managers require time with their teams.

“I would say to Todd Boehly, give Graham Potter time. Give him time. All the managers need time and he is right.”

“At Barcelona, I didn’t need time for two seasons because I had Messi.” he told media.

Meanwhile, Graham Potter is under increasing pressure after Chelsea being knocked out of the domestic cup in the first round for the first time in 34 years. His team has only won one of the last eight matches in all competitions. Chelsea is tenth in the English Premier League table, having won just 25 points in 17 games this season.
