Mesut Ozil, one of the most talented playmakers of his generation, has made the decision to retire from professional football.

He began his career in Germany with Schalke 04 and Werder Bremen, before making a move to Real Madrid in 2010.

During his time with Los Blancos, Ozil established himself as one of the best players in the world, making 159 appearances and scoring 27 goals, with 81 assists.

In 2013, Ozil signed with English side Arsenal, where he spent seven and a half years. During his time at the club, he made over 250 appearances and won the FA Cup three times.

Ozil was also a standout player for the German national team, scoring 23 goals in 96 games, playing a key role in their 2014 World Cup title, also winning German Player of the Year five times.

However, his time with the Gunners was marked by tension and controversy at a later stage, and he eventually moved on to a free transfer to Fenerbahce in 2021.

Unfortunately, his time in Turkey was tumultuous, leading to a suspension and eventually a move to Istanbul Basaksehir.

Despite a difficult season in Turkey, Ozil's talent and achievements in the sport have made him one of the most talked-about players of his generation.

As Ozil moves on from football, it remains to be seen what he will do next. He could pursue a coaching career or explore other opportunities.

Regardless of what he chooses, Ozil's legacy in the sport will not be forgotten and his impact on the game will be remembered for years to come.
