Steven Spielberg is a prominent film director known for his successful and award-winning career in the film industry.

He made his directorial debut with "Duel" in 1971 and has since gone on to become one of the most commercially successful directors of all time, with multiple Academy Award wins and nominations.

He is currently tied with 17 other directors for two Best Director wins, and if he wins for "The Fablemans" in 2022, 

he will be tied with Frank Capra and William Wyler, just one win shy from John Ford's record of four Best Director wins.

A single Best Director nomination is a significant success for many, Spielberg has gotten multiple nominations in this category, making him one of the greatest directors in the history.
