Steven Spielberg, the multiple Oscar winner and director behind "The Fabelmans," recently spoke with Indian director S.S. Rajamouli via Zoom.
During the call, Spielberg praised Rajamouli's blockbuster film "RRR" and praised the performances of the film's lead actors, which included Ram Charan, NTR Jr, Alia Bhatt, and Alison Doody.
Spielberg described "RRR" as "outstanding" and "extraordinary to look at and experience." Rajamouli, a big fan of Spielberg and "The Fabelmans," asked the director on his motivating factors and creative process behind his latest movie.
In "The Fabelmans," Spielberg stated that he explored the family theme and the challenge of combining personal happiness with the well-being of those around you.
In addition, Spielberg revealed that he declined the opportunity to direct the first Harry Potter film in order to spend more time with his family.
Rajamouli responded by saying that he is fortunate to have his family members involved in the film industry in filmmaking, thus he never feels estranged from them.
Spielberg showed interest in returning to India for a future project and stated he would take Rajamouli's offer to film in Hyderabad into consideration.
The two directors will reunite in person at the Oscars next month, where "The Fabelmans" is nominated for seven categories, including best picture.
While 'Naatu Naatu' song from Rajamouli's 'RRR', that won best song award at Golden Globes recently, is also nominated at Oscars 2023.
