It’s no surprise that Netflix’s massive hit movie Extraction – based on the graphic novel Ciudad by Ande Parks, Joe Russo and Anthony Russo – is getting a highly-anticipated sequel, with Chris Hemsworth returning as Tyler Rake and Extraction 2 scheduled to hit Netflix screens in the summer of 2023.
Sam Hargrave is back to take the director’s chair, and the Russo Brothers are executive producing, with Joe Russo credited for writing the story. With an incredible around 100 millions views for the first movie on Netflix, fans are already eagerly anticipating what exciting twists and turns the sequel will take, and all signs point to it being just as action-packed as the original.
Chris Hemsworth had confirmed on November 2021 on his Instagram official handle that filming for Extraction 2 had begun in Prague, Czech Republic. This was a change from the original plan to film in Sydney, Australia, due to the restrictions put in place by Covid-19.
Filming for the movie wrapped up on March 19th, 2022, and post-production kicked off right afterwards.
Extraction 2 Plot
Tyler Rake returns for another high-stakes mission. After a close call in Dhaka, he must rescue a family held hostage by a Georgian gangster. To succeed, they must sneak into a dangerous prison, but the extraction turns deadly when the gangster is killed.
His ruthless brother pursues Rake and his team to Sydney for revenge. Can they survive the dangerous mission?
Extraction 2 Cast
Chris Hemsworth is set to reprise his role as Tyler Rake. Adam Bessa, who appeared as Yaz in the first Extraction, will also return. Rayna Campbell, who previously starred in the first movie as a radio tech of Nik’s crew, will now play the role of Ruthie.
Tinatin Dalakishivili has joined the cast as Ketevan, and actor Patrick Newall will portray the character of Seb. Meanwgile, Dato Bakhtadze (from the film Wanted) will play Avtandil.
With a blend of returning cast members and new additions, Extraction 2 is shaping up to be an exciting and action-packed sequel.
