Haaland Fastest & Youngest to 40 UCL Goals

Manchester City’s striker Erling Haaland has become the fastest player to reach 40 UEFA Champions League goals in the competition’s history. The 23-year-old Norwegian forward is also the youngest player to reach this milestone.

Haaland scored his 40th UCL goal in his 35th UCL game during Man City’s Group G encounter against RB Leipzig. Despite going 2 goals down, Man City came out on top with goals from Haaland, Foden, and Alvarez, winning the match 3:2.

Haaland Beats Mbappe

Haaland became the youngest footballer to reach 40 UCL goals after his goal in the Man City vs. Leipzig match the other night.

Reaching the milestone at the age of 23 years and 130 days, Haaland beats PSG’s Kylian Mbappe to become the youngest footballer ever to score 40 goals in UCL history.

Haaland has also taken the fewest games in UCL history to reach 40 goals. He is now the fastest to 10 goals (7 games), 20 (14), 30 (25), and 40 goals (35 games) in the top European competition’s history.

Haaland’s next target will be to reach 50 goals in fewer than 62 games to beat Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Haaland’s goal vs. Leipzig also took his goal tally to 50 this year, surpassing Harry Kane (49 goals), Cristiano Ronaldo (48), and Kylian Mbappe (47).

Leipzig is Haaland’s Favorite Opponent

Scoring Man City’s first goal of the night against UCL opponent RB Leipzig, Haaland took his goal tally to 12th against them, the most he has scored against a single club in his professional career.

Half of these goals have come when he was playing in the Bundesliga, while 6 of them have come in 4 UCL games.

Man City confirmed their entry into the UCL’s next round with the hard-fought win over Leipzig with the 3:2 winning scoreline. Meanwhile, Leipzig is through to the playoffs with 9 points in 5 games as the third-placed team, Young Boys, with 4 points so far, can only reach a possible 7 points.
