8 Best New Movies & Shows on Netflix in April 2023

Netflix has kicked off April with some blockbuster titles added to its vast library of movies and shows. It is the perfect timing to filter out the best new movies (and shows) coming on Netflix this month.

Netflix has added a variety of movies and TV shows to its streaming library in April already. The list includes paranormal experiment “28 Days” the classic board game adaptation “Battleship” and the comedy “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days“.

Also included are the movies of the Jason Bourne series, the drama series “Friday Night Lights,” and the animated film “Hotel Transylvania

Viewers can also watch classics like “Psycho” and “Smokey and the Bandit,” and family-friendly films like “Dr. SeussThe Cat in the Hat” and “How to Train Your Dragon“.

Also new on Netflix in first week of April: “War Sailor” a limited series about two sailors facing the brutality of World War II; “Magic Mixies” a new animated series; “Surviving R. Kelly Part III”, a documentary series detailing allegations against the musician; “My Name Is Mo’Nique“, a stand-up comedy special; and “The Signing”, a reality show featuring young Latino artists vying for a contract with music legends.

Netflix rarely misses to captivate and excite its audience with the most engaging and thrilling new TV shows and movies, and April 2023 is turning out to be no different. Besides past-years hits lined up for Netflix release, there is plenty of fresh content on the way.

Obsession is the upcoming limited original series based on the same story, releasing on Netflix on April 13.

Obsession tells the story of a famous London surgeon (politician in the original movie – maybe we see some changes in the story this time) who has a scandalous affair with his son’s fiancée.

The prohibited relationship quickly escalates into an all-consuming obsession that threatens to wreck their lives and the lives of those around them. This gripping drama, starring Richard Armitage, Charlie Murphy, and Indira Varma, explores the darker side of human desire and the devastating consequences of giving in to our cravings.

Tooth Pari: When Love Bites

Releasing on: 20 April

Cast: Tanya Maniktala, Shantanu Maheshwari, Sikander Kher, Revathy, Tillotama Shome, Adil Hussain, Saswata Chatterjee

Tooth Pari: When Love Bites is a romantic Hindi-language drama about a rebellious vampire with a broken tooth who falls in love with a shy dentist on the streets of Kolkata, India.

In a sweet and entertaining tale of improbable love, the two are drawn to each other despite their radically different backgrounds and her supernatural powers.

Yet, as their bond grows stronger, they must overcome the obstacles posed by human and mystical powers that threaten to keep them apart.

Tooth Pari: When Love Bites, starring Tanya Maniktala, Shantanu Maheshwari, and Sikander Kher and directed by Pratim D. Gupta, is set to premiere on Netflix on 20th April.

The Diplomat

The Diplomat, upcoming US TV show, revolves around a career diplomat who finds herself juggling her new high-profile job as ambassador to the UK and her turbulent marriage to a political star amidst an international crisis.

Queens on the Run (Fuga de Reinas)

Florida Man

Releasing on: April 13

Florida Man is a riveting US show about a disgraced cop who is in debt and is forced to return to his home state of Florida for a shady mission. Things quickly turn dangerous when he becomes entangled in a wild and deadly treasure hunt that threatens to consume him.

The show, which stars Edgar Ramrez, Abbey Lee, and Anthony LaPaglia, has a talented cast and a plot line to look forward to.

Florida Man, created by Donald Todd, promises to be thrilling and gritty take on the crime genre, with plenty of twists in the Sunshine State’s seedy underbelly.

Chupa: A Monster Tale

Releasing on: April 7

Cast: Demián Bichir, Evan Whitten, Christian Slater, Ashley Ciarra, Nickolas Verdugo, Adriana Paz, Gerardo Taracena, Julio Cesar Cedillo

Netflix has indeed produced some of the best creature films and shows. Chupa: A Monster Tale is the latest offering with a heartfelt and feel-good take on creatures and human relationship.

The film is set in Mexico and follows Alex, a 13-year-old boy who befriends a small chupacabra puppy. Chupacabras are Latin American mythological creatures that are frequently blamed for unexpected cattle deaths on farms. Alex does everything he can to protect his new furry friend, even transforming the monster into a fluffy companion.

Oh Belinda

Releasing on: April 7

Cast: Neslihan Atagül Doğulu, Serkan Çayoğlu, Necip Memili, Meral Çetinkaya, Beril Pozam, Efe Tunçer, Gamze Karaduman, Sacide Taşaner, Kamil Güler, Anıl Çelik

This Turkish film puts a new spin on the Freaky Friday formula. A well-known actress agrees to appear in a shampoo commercial, but as soon as she applies the product to her hair, she finds herself in the bathroom of her character, Handan, a married woman with two children.

Now she must persuade those around her that she is not who they believe she is, while also wondering if the commercial’s character has been living her usual lavish life. This bizarre concept sure looks appealing in Oh Belinda.

The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die

Releasing on: April 14

Cast: Alexander Dreymon, Harry Gilby, Mark Rowley, Arnas Fedaravicius, Cavan Clerkin, James Northcote, Laurie Davidson, Elaine Cassidy

The fifth and final season of The Last Kingdom premiered on Netflix last year, supposedly concluding the story of Uhtred of Bebbanburg.

The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die, on the other hand, adds a new chapter to Uhtred’s story. This two-hour film will tie up loose ends and allow fans to bid farewell to their favourite historical drama.

In short, April 2023 promises to be an exciting month for Netflix subscribers.
