Little About Vikram Vedha (The Remake)
The upcoming highly anticipated Bollywood film Vikram Vedha is a neo-noir action thriller. This is the official Hindi remake of the Tamil movie “Vikram Vedha” that was released in 2017.
The original movie was a huge box-office success winning great accolades from the critics as well. The Bollywood remake of the movie is going to release on the 30th of September 2022. It stars Hrithik Roshan, Saif Ali Khan, and Radhika Apte in the main lead.
Written and Directed By
The Hindi remake is directed by the talented husband and wife duo Pushkar and Gayathri. The duo also directed the original Tamil version of the film released 5 years ago.
Music
The music of the movie is done by the popular and talented duo of Vishal-Shekhar. Meanwhile, the background score, which turned everyone’s attention towards it after the movie trailer was released, is by Sam C. S. Sam had composed the music for the original version.
Star Cast
The movie’s main lead is the Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan who plays the role of the gangster. He is chased by inspector Saif Ali Khan. Radhika Apte is the lead actress, as Vikram’s wife. The supporting cast of the movie includes; Rohit Sarf, Yogita Bihani, Sharib Hashmi, and Satyadeep Mishra.
Release Date
The movie is slated for a 30 September 2022 release.
Language and Budget
The movie is the official Hindi remake of the Tamil movie of the same name, made with a whopping 175 crore budget.
Story Line
Vikram played by Saif Ali Khan is a daring police inspector who is on a mission to apprehend Vedha, a gangster played by Hrithik Roshan. The movie explores the good and evil of a gangster’s life.
Now let’s come to our 3 reasons why we are damn excited for the release of the Bollywood version of Vikram Vedha.
1. Pushkar-Gayatri Duo
If you have watched the original Vikram Vedha that was released in 2017, then I do not need to tell you about the immense talent and creative minds of the writer-director duo, Pushkar-Gayatri.
Maybe one beauty about their work is the understanding between them. They are very creative and just brilliant in what they do. They are a married couple and for a fact, there is no married duo in filmmaking in India other than these two. I read somewhere that they are the only married couple writer-director in entire Asia. That is impressive in itself.
So far, the duo has written and directed 3 movies. With Vikram Vedha’s remake, the count would be 4.
Oram Po (2007), Va-Quarter Cutting (2010), Vikram Vedha (2017), and Vikram Vedha (2022) is the film collection of the duo. Looking at the gap of years between each movie release, you can judge that this duo is dedicated to making a perfect final product.
2017’s Vikram Vedha, starring R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead roles of inspector and gangster, is still one of my favorite movies from the Tamil industry.
However, that is not the only reason I am excited about the remake. I recently watched Suzhal: The Vortex and completely blew my mind. This amazon original series is created and written by Pushkar and Gayatri. The series is just beyond imagination. This is one of the best series that has come from the Indian industry.
If you have not watched Suzhal the vortex then I suggest you just go and watch it. I am sure after watching it your excitement for all the next Pushkar-Gayatri projects will skyrocket.
2. Hrithik Roshan as the Bad Guy
Hrithik Roshan, no doubt, has come a long way in his career that has now gone over two decades in films. He made his Bollywood debut with the feel-good romantic movie “Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai” that came in 2000. Ever since his fan following has gone up and up as his choices of rarely gone wrong.
In most movies, he is the good guy and people love him in such likable roles. However, whenever he stepped out of his comfort zone and did the negative roles, he absolutely nailed the parts.
He has never shied away from donning the role of bad boys in movies. In fact, in his second movie Fiza, he played a negative character. After that, he played the role of a terrorist in Mission Kashmir which went on to be a critical and commercial success.
The best negative role of Hrithik Roshan was seen on the big screen in Dhoom 2. It is one of his best roles to date. His style, mannerism, cool bad-guy avatar, and too-sexy to be a thief in the crime thriller were and still are considered classic acts. The film was a huge box office success.
The 2019 box-office hit “War” is another reason to be excited for Hrithik’s role in “Vikram Vedha”. War had great VFX, incredible action and chase sequences, and Hrithik as an agent who has gone rogue.
In short, we can not wait to see Hrithik Roshan play a baddie again. After watching the trailer of the movie, one thing is for certain his fans are in for a treat.
3. Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan Face OFF
This is the first time that Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan are going to be seen in a movie together. That is already exciting enough.
But, on top of that, they are literally in a face-off in the movie. An inspector chasing a gangster to apprehend is not unique for a Bollywood movie. However, the fact that the roles are being played by two powerhouses is going to be a treat to watch on the big screen.
The main role of the good and evil was brilliantly played by R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi in the original Tamil Version.
Hrithik and Khan have a towering task to match their brilliant acts but if they manage to even come anywhere near that, the remake is going to wreak havoc at the box office.
The trailer has already garnered huge curiosity among moviegoers. Everyone is excited to see this face-off.
These 3 reasons are anything but an indication that a huge blockbuster is on the way for Bollywood.
