Di Maria Takes Blame as Juventus Suffers Shock Defeat vs Monza

In their Serie A encounter against Monza, Juventus suffered a shock outcome as Monza grabbed all 3 points with a 1-0 scoreline. Juventus now have gone 5 games without a win in all competitive games.

The only goal of the game came from C. Gytkaer in the 73rd minute of the game. The Old Lady were down to 10 players after Di Maria was shown a red card by the match referee just before the end of the first half.

Di Maria was seen elbowing an opponent player as referee had no choice but to send him off. Now he could face up to a 3 game ban if it is found that his act was a deliberate one. His straight red card meant Juventus had to play about a hour of football with 10 men on the field. This was Di Maria’s first red card in league since April 2017 in a game against Nice while he was playing for PSG.

The Juventus team under Max Allegri has only won twice in 8 games this season. They also lost their champions league encounter vs Benfica before this game.

Di Maria later shared a apology statement to Juventus fans that stated,”

“I want to apologize to everyone for this inappropriate reaction I had on the pitch. Leaving the team with one down at such a difficult time in the championship has cost us the game.

Losing is my own fault. I am so sorry. I’m a professional but also a human who makes mistakes and knows how to admit them.”
