The Wait Is Over: ‘Pathaan’ Starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone to Stream on Prime Video on This Date!

“Pathaan,” starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, is slated to be released on digital platforms soon. Those who missed out on seeing the film in theatres will be able to see it on Amazon Prime Video starting March 22.

Despite the fact that ‘Pathaan’ is still running successfully in a large number of screens in India, it was widely speculated that the makers might push the OTT release of the film, the latest news regarding an earlier OTT premiere is a positive news for all those eagerly waiting for its digital release. SRK fans recently celebrated the film’s marathon box-office run as it completed ’50 days’ in theatres.

The digital release comes seven weeks after the film’s theatrical release (25th January, 2023), which was preceded by the removal of some parts due to their supposedly offensive nature. But, as filmmaker Siddharth Anand has hinted, those removed portions will make it into the OTT version.

At the film’s initial release, Khan’s character’s religious identity attracted controversy. The matter was addressed by director Siddharth Anand, who stated that he, Aditya Chopra, and screenwriter Shridhar Raghavan and Abbas Tyrewala shared the same ideological system and had grown up viewing the same films. He also stated that none of them felt the content to be cheesy or offensive.

“Pathaan,” produced by Yash Raj Films, had been a huge commercial success, smashing box office records. The action-thriller grossed over INR 500 crore in India and over INR 1000 crore worldwide. The film, part of YRF’s Spy Universe, also stars John Abraham, Ashutosh Rana, and Dimple Kapadia, in addition to Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone.
