Real Madrid Midfielders Discuss Future Plans, Partnership and Playing at the New Bernabeu Stadium

Luka Modrić and Toni Kroos, two of the greatest Real Madrid midfielders, recently shared their thoughts on their relationship on and off the pitch, as well as their aspirations to play at the new Bernabéu stadium.

In an interview with Futbol Mahou, Modrić spoke about his future, stating that “The club knows my desire. I said it many times. Now I don’t think about my future. I want to give my best, then we’ll see what happens.”

When asked about the future of his midfield partner Toni Kroos, Modrić was tight-lipped about his plans, saying that he don’t know “what he will do and even if I knew I wouldn’t tell you.”

Modrić reiterated that his focus is currently on giving his best for the team and he is not thinking about his contract situation.

As for Kroos, Modrić’s partner on the pitch, the German midfielder praised their partnership, saying that “Playing by his (Modric) side is beautiful. We understand each other perfectly after almost 9 years together. We have a good connection both on and off the pitch, we always know what the other is going to do.”

Kroos also praised their new midfield sensation Eduardo Camavinga, who recently played a fantastic game against Liverpool and helped Kroos and Modrić greatly in the midfield battle against the Klopp’s side as Real Madrid went on to secure their Quarter final spot in UCL with a 6-2 win.

Kroos stated that “Camavinga played a spectacular game against Liverpool, he helped me and Luka a lot. Luka & I have more history than the others, but the important thing is what you do now.”

Carlo Ancelotti’s team next face arch-rival Barcelona in the crucial La Liga clash on Sunday. With Barcelona coming victorious in last two El Clasico clashes, Real Madrid are under a lot of pressure as they sit 9 points behind table topper Barcelona in their quest for depending the league title this season.

Toni Kroos acknowledged that the “Clásico against Barcelona is always a unique and special game, and that nobody can predict the outcome. Sometimes I try to guess what will happen in a Clásico and I’m never right. Nobody can predict. It is always a special and unique game. We know the importance of it.”

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti in his pre-match conference told media that “Kroos and Modrić are still the best, I’m surprised some people still doubt them.”

Kroos also spoke about the uniqueness of Real Madrid as a club, stating that after playing for Bayern Munich and seeing a lot of the football world, “Real Madrid is unique. All of us want to play at the new Bernabéu. We play well against big opponents. It’s what great teams do. If we continue like this, we’ll be fine.”

Kroos also mentioned the importance of doing well in the Champions League for a club like Real Madrid, as they have drawn English Premier League side Chelsea in Quarter-Finals of the competition, and stated that they need to work hard to reach the final.
