There is a reason Bollywood movies are flopping at the box-office in 2022. The quality of content provided in these movies is just poor. The thing is that every movie industry produces their fair share of garbage every year.
However, the real problem with Bollywood films in recent times has been the fact that almost most major and high budgeted movies with big star names have provided low quality content to the loyal Hindi-movie audience. That is not acceptable, right.
When so much money is invested, successful writers and directors are hired, big names from industry are roped in for lead roles, and then the final product turns out to be thrash in every sense, it really hurts everyone involve with Indian cinema. Most importantly it results in wastage of time and money of common moviegoers.
2022 has been a poor year for Hindi cinema while it has been very fruitful for the South Cinema. In fact, it has been regional films which have a given a helping hand to distributors in Bollywood dominated states.
Movies like RRR, KGF 2, Pushpa, and PS1 have all done exceptionally well in their dubbed version in Hindi-dominated belt.
We have watched almost most big releases from Bollywood this year. This is a compilation of the worst Bollywood films that have come so far in 2022. No surprises with the fact that these are all big-budgted, highly marketed movies with big movie stars in the lead acts.
1. Shamshera
The Ranbir Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor starter was in making for years. It was being produced by the most successful movie production house, Yash Raj Films. The movie was made on a very big budget. It was highly marketed as well. Makers left no stone unturned in making this as one of the most highly anticipated movie of 2022.
And when it released, the audience outright rejected it. The movie was poor in all aspects and deserved to fail at the box-office. Makers won’t agree but the story of the movie was so poor and acting so over the top that it became a meme fest on social media sites.
The film is set in the 1800s and is based on the life of a dacoit tribe leader. The film is directed by Karan Malhotra and is produced by Aditya Chopra of Yash Raj Films.
2. Jayeshbhai Jordaar
The movie made a mockery of a sensitive issue. Even the name of the movie is weird and did not set right with the Hindi audience. It is another failure on our list that has been produced by Yash Raj Films.
The movie has been directed by debutante director Divyang Thakkar and stars Ranveer Singh in the lead role. The movie is supposed to be a light-hearted entertainer in the backdrop of a sensitive social issue.
Well, the audience certainly feel let down by unbearable performance from Ranveer Singh and Boman Irani. Besides that, the screenplay is poorly written. The direction is average. The makers fail to make it make it light-hearted and also feeling to connect audience with the emotional scenes.
In short, another biggie from Bollywood that failed to entertain the moviegoers.
3. Bachchhan Paandey
Akshay Kumar releases a number of movies in a calendar year. Among these multiple releases, there is always one worse movie. Bachchhan Paandey is Akshay’s worst movie of 2022.
The movie is directed by Farhad Samji and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. It stars, beside Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi, and Kriti Sanon, in the main lead.
Mayra, played by Kriti Sanon, is a filmmaker who wants to make a movie on a notorious gangster Akshay Kumar.
After watching the movie, the audience fails to understand if the makers wanted to make an action movie or a comedy or a mix of both. The film fails to have any quality of none of the aforementioned genres.
Another big budgeted crap from Bollywood in 2022, Bachchhan Paandey makes it in top 3 our list if worst Bollywood movies of 2022.
4. Laal Singh Chaddha
They literally chose one of the best movie screenplay ever and turned it into an average remake. This is just Bollywood things.
After watching the movie, you would feel perplexed why the makers and Aamir Khan in particular thought they can make a Forrest Gump Bollywood version and be able to justify the original classic.
The film is a remake of the classic Hollywood film Forrest Gump, and unlike its source material, Laal Singh Chaddha is a fails to be heartwarming and ruins the feel-good story about self-discovery and redemption of the original Tom Hanks starrer.
The biggest negative is Aamir Khan in the role of Laal Singh Chaddha. Let’s be completely honest, his act feels so fake and unauthentic that you want to throw up.
There are some good moments in the movie but as a overall package, this is one of the worst remakes ever made in Bollywood history.
5. Ek Villain Returns
No one wanted Ek Villain to return like this. The film, which is a sequel to 2014’s Ek Villian, stars Arjun Kapoor, John Abraham, Tara Sutaria and Disha Patani in the lead roles.
The movie tries to be fancy and Hollywood but fails miserably. The story, screenplay, the twists, and love and betrayal in the movie are all average. The acting is so over the top, feels the typical Bollywood way to ruin a great franchise with the second movie no one asked for.
Watch the original and miss this one. The film had a big-budget, a sell-able star cast but the final product is way below expectations of anyone. Another failure for Bollywood in 2022.
